Why do I need a teeth cleaning every 6 months.

Everyone has good and bad bacteria in their mouth. The bad bacteria feeds on your left over food that sticks to your teeth. The bacteria then form a substance called plaque that acts as a shield to the bacteria and then a stronger shield called calculus. Teeth brushing and flossing alone does not remove all the plaque and does not remove the calculus. Left in your mouth the bacteria will eventually eat away at the gum tissue and bone surrounding your teeth. That is why everyone needs a teeth cleaning every 6 months as a minimum. Some people need to come more frequent at 3 or 4 month intervals. Call dr. Stevens office and schedule your professional and thorough teeth cleaning At this number (909) 373-7743.
